We are working with Licensed Premises to create a more straightforward, transparent and consistent way of working. For the first time, we are bringing together all the guidance, standards and advice that is provided by Police, Local Authority Licensing Officers and other Responsible Authorities to reduce the risk and fear of crime, wherever you are in the country.

This information will be easily available in a custom-made, online self-assessment called Licensed Premises Security and Vulnerability Initiative (LP SAVI).

How we are supporting Licensed Premises

LP SAVI will help you record your operational security and management practices and highlight any risks around vulnerabilities related to personal security of staff and customers and your physical building security. It also contains risk management procedures and will come with built-in advice and links to further information.

Our online self-assessment tool will help you to:

  • save time and money by getting security and effective practices right first time
  • benchmark improvements and build on areas of existing good practice
  • form part of your new licence or variation application
  • improve the running of an existing premises
  • show how you are promoting the four licensing objectives
  • achieve high standards that ultimately increase profitability and benefit customers
  • provide the basis for the SBD LP SAVI Award.

This is your confidential report, but, if you wish, you can share it with relevant third parties like Police and Local Authority Licensing Officers and it can form part of a Licensing Act 2003 application.

Licensed Premises logoOnce you have completed the LP SAVI assessment, you will have the opportunity to market this achievement by applying for the SBD Security & Vulnerability Award. This is a star-rated award scheme in a similar vein to the well-known food rating system that has been in operation for a number of years. This award will show the public that you run a safe and secure premises.

 

We want to make it really easy for Licensed Premises to consider the questions they are likely to be asked by Police and Local Authorities so they can take steps in securing, protecting and managing their own premises.
